How to Vote

Casting your vote
securely and anonymously

Your vote is completely anonymous and final. Here's how to participate in an election.

Your anonymity is guaranteed. Your vote choice is cryptographically separated from your identity. Even administrators cannot see how you voted.

Voting Types

M-Board supports five voting methods. The ballot page shows which one is in use and how to interact with it.

TypeHow it worksUI interaction
PluralitySelect up to the configured number of candidates. Highest vote count wins.Tick checkboxes. Counter shows 0 / max.
MajoritySelect exactly 1 candidate. Must exceed 50% to win.Single radio button selection only.
ApprovalApprove as many candidates as you like — all ticked candidates count as approved.Tick any number of checkboxes. Counter shows total approved.
Ranked Choice (STV)Rank candidates in order of preference. Losers are eliminated in rounds; votes transfer to next preference.Click Rank on each candidate. Use ↑ ↓ to reorder. Counter shows how many you've ranked.
CumulativeDistribute a fixed points budget across candidates in any combination. More points = stronger preference.Use + / − buttons per candidate. A bar shows points spent vs budget remaining.

Abstaining

If the election allows abstention, a Participation Mode switcher appears above the candidate list. Selecting Abstain lets you formally participate in the election without choosing any candidate — your abstention is recorded and counted as participation.

Your Vote Receipt

After every successful vote, M-Board redirects you to a Vote Receipt page. This receipt is your permanent record of participation.

  • Receipt Code — a unique RCP-… code. Save it privately — it proves your vote was recorded.
  • Verification Code — an 8-character code you can use to cross-check your vote against the audit log.
  • Anonymous elections — the receipt confirms your participation but does not display your choices, protecting your anonymity.
  • Print / PDF / Share — action buttons on the receipt page let you print, download as PDF, or copy the receipt for your records.

Viewing Results

Results are published once an election closes and the governing body approves their release. If results are public, a View Results button appears in your voting history on the dashboard.
